Time to Think for Indian Muslims

Time to Think for Indian Muslims

by Shamsul Huda Qasmi

After a long summer vacation, schools and colleges are again open and the parents are in race to get their dear children admitted in high rank schools so as to have gratifying results of their beloved ones and the child can brighten his future in educational field. It is tough time for the parents, being Muslims, to take an appropriate decision selecting quality schools, as it will leave a lasting effect on the upcoming life of the student. On the other side, there are a number of English medium schools and colleges in the city attracting the students offering several additional courses and trainings. But for Muslim parents, modern education and Islamic faith and beliefs for the child both occupy equal importance. Today it is a craze to get their children admitted in high class English medium schools and colleges run by different groups, Muslims and non-Muslims, across the country, and the admissions in them are taken granted for the success of the students. Parents take pride in proclaiming their beloved children are educated in English medium schools and not only the parents regard the others inferior to their children but also the non-English medium school students feel inferiority complex. Sciences and arts, of course, need language as a medium to progress and prosper. Undoubtedly English language has become the lingua franca of the world today and furthermore the fresh advancements and technologies taking place today can easily be learnt with the help of English language as compared to others. But the concern here lies that the majority of the English medium schools are under the governance of Christian missionaries with a specific purpose where the innocent minds, under the cover of secularism, are inculcated non-Islamic faiths and beliefs, culture and acts of polytheism through various tactics in the name of cultural programmes and the students assimilate them unconsciously. They have necessarily to participate in the daily morning polytheistic prayers. Dog, pig, cross, charismas, and charismas tress are the few words as example introduced to the students having plain minds in kindergarten and elementary schools. On the other hand, it is pleasing our conscious community, keeping the entire scenario in the mind, stepped foreword and initiated to establish English medium schools in order that the Muslim children can be carefully nurtured in a good Islamic environments. And Al-Hamdulillah, the initiatives proved to be somewhat successful in the concerned aim. But we have still to build more schools and colleges than the number we have today to meet the call of the time as the number of the students is increasing quickly. Furthermore we have also to constitute a body that can ponder upon the present syllabus introduced in our schools prepared by non-Islamic bodies. The proposed body should be assigned to formulate a good Islam-friendly curriculum after filtering it on the screen of Islamic faiths and culture because the books in the elementary schools are full of polytheistic stories, pictures and words. Dogs and Pigs are always the characters of the stories and presented in the manner that the child unconsciously develops a soft corner for the prohibited (Haram) animals. It is my humble opinion expressed in this piece as the responsibility lies on the shoulders of the every Muslim individual to safeguard the asset (students) of the community to be destroyed by the falsehood and polytheism. Islamic faith and spirituality are far superior to the mortal and material world. The success of the human being lies in the success of hereafter. May Allah accept us for his noble cause! (Aameen)
