He is known!
By Shamsul Huda Qasmi
The
universe we live in is very beautiful. We are always fascinated to mountains,
rivers, oceans, trees and beautiful birds, animals and finally to the entire nature.
The sun gives us light and the moon soothes our eyes. We are blessed with
plenty of fruits and food to eat and lovely flowers to see and smell. In the
world, there are innumerable boons and bounties that are showered upon us all
the time. We, therefore, must dutifully ponder over the purpose of our creation
and all that exist in the universe. The holy Qur'an speaks in its matchless
style:
"Who
remember Allah standing and sitting, and (lying) on their sides, and ponder on
the creation of the heavens and the earth (and say): Our Lord, You have not
created all this in vain. We proclaim Your purity. So, save us from the
punishment of Fire."
(Surah
Al-Imaran- Ayat 191)
The Creator of the universe invites us to reflect on His various
creations and discover the truth of one Supreme Lord who reins the entire system.
He says again in the holy Qur'an:
"So, do they not look at the camels how they are created, and at
the sky, how it is raised high, and at the mountains, how they are installed,
and at the earth, how it is spread out?" (Ch. 88 verse 17-20)
The Creator did not make the entire universe useless but it's an
invitation to us to think deeply into the universal systems and strive to
recognize the Supreme Being. What are His attributes and what are His wishes?
The holy Qur'an, the ultimate guide to mankind, defines the Maker as saying:
"Say, the truth is that Allah is One. Allah is Besought of all,
needing none. He neither begot anyone, nor was he begotten. And equal to Him
has never been any one." (Ch.112
verse 1-4)
To enlighten the truth, He sent many
messengers to the people at different times in different places. They passed His
message to their chosen nations and at last Mohammad (saws) was awarded the final
seal of the prophet-hood and sent to the whole humanity. He elaborated the attributes of one God and clearly
defined the purpose of the creation of human being and the whole universe. And
a complete system of life how to attain good for the life hereafter was
explained by the Prophet (saws) and that system is professed as Islam. He said
the whole world is meant for the humankind and humankind for the hereafter:
"The world is
created for you and you are created for the (life) hereafter." (Tanbeehul Ghafileen)
It, therefore, becomes our obligatory duty to make a sincere effort to know
the one absolute and eternal Lord and the system He wishes us to follow. May He
enable us to recognize Him and go after His chosen path! (Aameen)
