Sincere servant of Islamic jurisprudence, noted author and famous orator: Mufti Muhammad Zafiruddin Miftahi Saheb (RA), 85, left for heavenly abode on 31st March, 2011, at his ancestral village. He was born in 1926, in Puranadiha village of Darbhanga district in Bihar, India.
He completed his Fazilat course in 1945 from the famed seminary: Miftahul Uloom, Mau, UP. Latter he joined Nadwatu Ulma, Lucknow to benefit from the elders of Nadwah, but the environment didn't favour him and had to come back Then he joined Darul Musannifin, Azamgarh and worked under the care of Allama Sayyid Salman Nadvi that shaped his writing skill on the higher level. He was among the renowned students of Maulana Habibur Rahman Muhaddithe Azmi.
Mufti Saheb had taken the oath of allegiance at the hand of Sheikhul Islam Maulana Husain Ahmad Madani. Following the death of Madani, Mufti Saheb renewed it at the hand of the then VC of Darul Uloom, Deoband (DUD), Qari Muhammad Tayyab Saheb.
He joined well-known Islamic University Darul Uloom, Deoband for service in 1956. He served in DUD as a Mufti and teacher 52-year. In 2008, he resigned on health ground. All students and teachers of DUD used to give him due respect owing to his towering personality.
He was not only the Mufti issuing Fatwa, and teacher limited in the class, but a dynamic personality and a known freedom fighter of India. His famous work is editing of "Fatawa Darul Uloom" in 12-Volume. Despite all these peculiarities, he was a unique symbol of great simplicity and humility.

It is a breif biography of Mufti Saheb (RA). One who wants to know the biography of Mufti Saheb, must go through "Zindagi Ka Ilmi Safar" that is his autobiography. His death is a great loss to the Muslim Ummah and Islamic world. May Allah shower His blessings and mercy on his grave! Aameen!
Dear Sir,
ReplyDeleteAssalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah,
Mashaa Allah, the materials and articles presented on your blog is informative and useful. The article by my friend M Khursheed Alam Dawood Qasmi on Mufti Zafiruddin Saheb (ra), ex-Mufti of Darul Uloom, Deoband, is a good and appreciable one. But there is on mistake. He completed his Fazilat in 1944, not in 1945. Surely Mufti Sahab was the example of our forefathers.
May Allah accept his services and grand him Jannah!
Muhammad Ibrahim Qasmi Sholapuri
